Investor’s Business Daily: Tech, Medical Firms OK New Privacy Guidelines

On June 25, Donna Howell of Investor’s Business Daily wrote an article about medical record privacy policies at larger organizations, with research conducted by Ponemon Institute and Strongmail. The article concludes 83% of privacy officers are compliant with privacy regulations compared to 44% of marketers of the same type of companies.

NetworkWorld: Marketers mucking Up Data-Privacy Efforts

As reported on June 23 by Ellen Messmer of NetworkWorld, a study by the Ponemon Institute showed that it is common for marketers to give out personal information “such as home address, telephone, date of birth, gender, e-mail address, credit card and Social Security numbers.” However, most privacy officers were unaware that these breaches in data security had occurred within their company.
