Acresso featured in SearchSAP: Cutting SAP maintenance costs on unused software requires hard bargaining


This is something Acresso’s licensing monitoring software can help with. It’s embedded in the SAP software and gives Basis administrators a way to monitor license usage across dashboards and reports, according to Jeff Greenwald, Acresso’s senior director of product management.

Acresso can track SAP system users to determine whether there are duplicate users, whether they’re using their license to the full extent, or whether they’re using it at all.

Acresso featured in AMR Research: Heard in the Hall, Part 1

There was a lot of vendor buzz at our recent Supply Chain Executive Conference at The Phoenican. I’ve attempted to capture some of the news and insight that I picked up in various formal and informal sessions, and through dozens of e-mails. Here is a quick summary in alphabetical order, starting with A through C.

Acresso Software recently launched FLEXnet Embedded, part of FLEXnet Suite for high tech device manufacturers. Built on Acresso’s expertise in license and entitlement management, the new software allows manufacturers to easily modify product configurations, simplify field upgrades, and enable trials of new capabilities. The new release enables high tech manufacturers to configure capability and capacity on their products by managing the licensing of embedded software.

Acresso In SearchOracle.com: Oracle-Sun deal could trigger Oracle license agreement inspections

With approval of the Oracle-Sun deal expected this summer, IT shops, particularly those with mission-critical products from both companies, are bracing for closer scrutiny of their Oracle license agreements.

“Oracle will use this merger as an excuse to revisit these contracts,” said John Handy, a database administrator with a large Chicago-based financial institution.

Acresso News: Software installations are notoriously fickle. Incompatible runtimes, missing drivers, non-existent libraries, and other common situations conspire to reject new programs on a fairly regular basis, causing time and productivity loss for the customer and a backlash against the software developer. Acresso, the software startup that owns the InstallShield franchise, last week unveiled a new release of the multiplatform version of the product, called InstallAnywhere 2009, that aims to thwart installation imps, particularly in Java environments.
